Resources to Improve your Self Efficacy at
Stage 1- Career Detachment

Although individuals may struggle with their work interests, they can move toward building their confidence in their ability to work.

Recovery-Oriented Treatment

At this stage, it may be helpful to get the support of an integrated, recovery-oriented treatment team which includes employment service providers (ex. Assertive Community Treatment).

Recovery-oriented service providers can communicate the critical message that people with mental health-related gaps in their work history can and do resume meaningful work lives, even when they are still dealing with symptoms.

Peer Observation

Exposure to peer providers in recovery-oriented treatment or rehabilitation settings who sustain decent work roles can help individuals to challenge their negative beliefs about their own capacity to work in the future.
